Holocaust Book Project
When I attended the Holocaust Museum Educators Workshop back in October, I was fortunate enough to pick up a great deal of materials that have added tremendously to our learning. I picked up a couple of small books that I thought the kids would enjoy reading when they had 5 or 10 minutes to spare.
One day, debating stuck between Greek Mythology and small group presentations, the idea to use these books struck me and our Project began.
The SHADES have been busily preparing to teach their Holocaust Book to the rest of the class with a theatrical production. They have created websites, powerpoints, pamphlets, crossword puzzles, word finds, posters, and 3-D models that compliment their books. They have been online doing research and learning even more about the Holocaust than I could ever stand before them and lecture. The small groups have developed their own eInstruction evaluations to see just how well the class learns the material they will be teaching on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Technology and small group dynamics as well as the reading, writing, and history of the Holocaust have all been intertwined into this massive project. Any parents who would like to come and participate next week are welcome. I will work very hard to post as much of the students projects onto this website as I possibly can on Monday and Tuesday so that you will be able to see what they can do, when they put their mind to the task.
Come back Monday and Tuesday and check it out.
